The Oklahoma State win...
► Marked the Cowboys' fourth over a team with an RPI in the top 40 and their seventh over a team with an RPI in the top 100.
► Was the Cowboys' sixth in their last seven meetings with Texas, dating back to 2012.
► Gave the Cowboys their second regular-season sweep over Texas in the last three seasons. OSU claimed both ends of the 2013 home-and-home series, claiming a 72-59 win in Austin and a 78-65 win in Stillwater that season.
► Was its third over an opponent ranked in the top 25 of the Associated Press poll this season. The Cowboys previously beat No. 10 Texas and No. 20 Baylor in Stillwater.
► Marked the 18th time that OSU has beaten an opponent ranked in the top 25 of the Associated Press poll since Travis Ford took over as head coach in 2008-09.
► Marked the third straight season and the fourth in the last six under coach Travis Ford that OSU has beaten at least three teams ranked in the Associated Press top 25 in the same season.
► Was the third road win for OSU this year. The Cowboys previously beat Memphis in Memphis and beat Missouri in Kansas City in a game that the NCAA considers a home game for Mizzou.
Game Notes
► With the score tied at 63 and 2.1 seconds left in overtime, Phil Forte raced the length of the court and was fouled at the rim by Texas big man Cameron Ridley. Forte made two free throws to give OSU a 65-63 advantage. The Cowboys stopped the Longhorns' ensuing possession to seal their win.
► The game was OSU's second overtime contest of the season. The Pokes beat Missouri, 74-72, in Kansas City on Dec. 30.
► Oklahoma State's Michael Cobbins fouled out with 4:39 left in overtime.
► Texas led, 1-0, to start the game, and didn't lead again until overtime.
► After struggling throughout regulation, Le'Bryan Nash scored four of Oklahoma State's nine points in overtime.
► Missed free throws down the stretch were a problem for Oklahoma State. Jeff Newberry and Anthony Hickey both missed the front end of one-and-one situations in the final 1:10 of regulation and Phil Forte missed a free throw in overtime to keep Texas in it.
► Anthony Hickey scored 15 points for his second consecutive double-figure scoring game. Entering the game, his high against a Big 12 opponent was 14 points against Oklahoma in Norman.
► Oklahoma State held significant advantages in both points off turnovers (18-4) and fast-break points (7-0)
► Oklahoma State's defense held Texas without a field goal for the first four minutes and 21 seconds of the game. The Cowboys forced the Longhorns into committing five turnovers on their first six possessions.
► Oklahoma State went on a 20-7 run to extend a 14-12 lead into a 34-19 advantage late in the first half. Texas answered with a 16-6 run to bring the score to 40-35 in favor of OSU with 14:13 left in the game. The two teams exchanged blows the rest of the way until Texas tied the score at 56 with 43 seconds left, which is where the score stayed through the end of regulation.
► Oklahoma State held a 35-24 advantage at the half, thanks largely to its defense. The Cowboys forced the Longhorns to commit 13 turnovers in the first half and consistently disrupted the flow and rhythm of the Texas offense. OSU limited Texas's top two scorers, Jonathan Holmes and Isaiah Taylor, to a total of two points in the first half (none for Holmes and two for Taylor).
► Oklahoma State guard Jeff Newberry attempted a career-high 11 free throws. His previous high was six against Kansas State in Stillwater. Newberry missed two practices earlier in the week due to illness.
