Forte Nominated For Allstate Good Works Team
December 09, 2015 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State senior guard Phil Forte was one of 154 men's basketball players nationwide nominated for the Allstate NABC Good Works team.
This distinguished award shines a spotlight on a select group of student-athletes who have shown dedication to service in their communities. In its fourth year, the Allstate NABC Good Works Team recognizes players at all levels of college basketball who have made outstanding contributions in the areas of volunteerism and civic involvement. From establishing nonprofits that provide youth with the necessary tools to become leaders of tomorrow, to raising awareness around pertinent issues that could save lives, these student-athletes exhibit leadership skills both on and off the court.
Forte is a five-time Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll selection, as well as a two-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree. He earned the Oklahoma State Academic Achievement Award in 2013, 2014 and 2015 for maintaining a 3.0 GPA, and he was named to the President's Honor Roll (4.0 GPA) in the spring of 2013. He was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team in 2014.
He was a part of OSU's Coaches vs. Cancer Birthday Party, as well as several other CVC events. Forte helped organize and participated in OSU's Remember The 10 run in every year he's been in Stillwater, and he's been called on as a speaker about his religious life.
From the nominations, special voting panels will select two 10-member teams comprised of five student-athletes from the NCAA Division I level and five student-athletes from Divisions II, III and the NAIA. The final roster of 20 award recipients will be unveiled in February.
Members of the Allstate NABC Good Works Team will be invited by Allstate, an official corporate partner of the NCAA, to the 2016 NABC Convention and 2016 NCAA Men's Final Four in Houston, where they will participate in a community service project benefitting the city. Allstate is an official corporate partner of the NABC, WBCA and NCAA.
