Brittney Martin Repeats As Big 12 Player of the Week
December 07, 2015 | Cowgirl Basketball
IRVING, Texas — Oklahoma State's Brittney Martin and Texas' Imani Boyette were named Big 12 Women's Basketball Co-Players of the Week today in a vote of a media panel that covers the conference.
For Martin, it was her 10th weekly award and fifth, including second-consecutive, as player of the week. The honor marks the first time a Cowgirl has captured the honor in consecutive weeks. Only once previously has OSU had consecutive players of the week with Tiffany Bias and Liz Donohoe receiving the honor back-to-back weeks in 2014.
The Syracuse, Utah native tallied her 20th and 21st career double-doubles while averaging 25 points and 11.5 rebounds in two wins last week.
She scored a game-high 24 points on an 8-of-12 shooting performance against Washington State and made eight of her 10 free throws. Martin pulled a game-high 11 rebounds against the Cougars as well, including six at the offensive end. The senior guard added two assists, one block and four steals in 32 minutes to knock WSU from the ranks of the unbeaten.
In just 28 minutes of play against UT Rio Grande Valley, Martin scored a game-high 26 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. She connected on 11 of her 19 shots from the floor and made four of her six free-throw attempts. Martin has scored at least 20 points in six consecutive outings and has logged double-doubles in three of her last four games.
