Beyond GIA: Marcus Dove Flying In France
December 18, 2015 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER - Several Oklahoma State basketball players have continued their success from inside Gallagaher-Iba Arena to courts across the world. Whether they're in the NBA, overseas in Poland, 14 former Cowboys are enjoying success in professional basketball.
Here's what a few have done recently in the NBA and D-League regular seasons and various overseas leagues. Check back with okstate.com throughout the season every Thursday for more weekly updates on your favorite former Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Le'Bryan Nash
What a season it has been for Le'Bryan Nash and the Fukushima Firebonds. Nash is averaging a league-high 26.4 points, including a 47-point show in October that was six points shy of the BJ-league record. Nash also finished with his first triple-double as a pro with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a Nov. 28 win against Saitama. Nash and the Firebonds return to action Dec. 19 when they take on Okinawa.
Marcus Smart
It's not quite where he wants to be, but Marcus Smart took a big step toward returning this week. The Boston Celtics announced Smart resumed on-court basketball activities, and looks as though he should return by the end of this month or early January. Smart has been sidelined since a Nov. 20 injury after he banged knees with Brooklyn's Thomas Robinson while trying to defend a layup. Smart has missed Boston's previous 14 games, and been forced to watch as the Celtics have gone 7-7. Smart and the Celtics return to action Dec. 18 when they take on the Atlanta Hawks.
Marcus Dove
Marcus Dove used to excite fans in orange and black, but now he's doing so in France for BCM Gravelines Dunkerque Grand Littoral. Through 12 games, Dove leads the team in scoring with 14.3 points a game, and rebounds with 5.1 a game. Dove and Gravelines return to action Dec. 18 when they take on Dijon.
