STILLWATER – Cowboy Nathan Roper and doubles partner Jurence Mendoza are coming off a second-place finish in doubles play this past weekend at the Larry Easley Memorial Classic in Las Vegas. Check out these five things you probably didn't know about the Oklahoma native.
Who is the funniest person on the team?
"Probably (Julian) Cash, because for some reason he always cracks me up the most."
What's your favorite tennis memory?
"My freshman year we played No. 6-ranked Tennessee and came in pretty low in the rankings. We ended beating them pretty good and it was a lot of fun. I didn't actually get to play that match, but when Arjun (Kadhe) clinched the match we all ran on the court."
What's your favorite sport to play other than tennis?
"I like to play a lot of other sports. When we play pick-up basketball, I think it's a lot of fun. I enjoy running, ping-pong and pool as well."
Who's the most famous person you've ever met?
"I saw Seth Rogen at the airport, but I don't know if that counts as meeting him. The other day I met Emmanuel Ogbah, got to shake his hand, I was pretty excited about that. I've also seen Russell Westbrook at Target."
Why OSU?
"There are a lot of reasons. I wanted to go to a big school where everybody really cared about other sports besides football and basketball. Obviously, it's the Big 12 and they really take care of us. I enjoy everyone on the team and that's probably my favorite part."
