Cowgirls Hang On To Defeat ORU, 59-55

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State women's basketball team opened up its four-game homestand with a hard-fought 59-55 victory on Friday night against in-state rival Oral Roberts in front of 2,184 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
With the win, OSU moved to 5-0, while the Golden Eagles fell to 2-3.
With 1:14 remaining, sophomore Kaylee Jensen drained a layup to put OSU up 53-50. After an ORU jumper cut the lead to one, senior Brittney Martin drained two crucial free throws to put the Cowgirls back in front by three.
On the ensuing possession, the Cowgirls forced a turnover and after an intentional foul, senior Roddricka Patton extended the lead to five, sealing the win for OSU.
After her team was outscored in a quarter for just the second time this season, Jensen took over for the Cowgirls.
Jensen scored the first nine points of the second quarter to put OSU in front. The Genoa, Neb., native grabbed five rebounds and was just one rebound shy of a double-double in the first half. She secured her 10th rebound early in the third quarter to record the second double-double of her career. Jensen finished the game with 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, five of which were offensive.
Martin chipped in with 21 points as well to go with seven rebounds, three blocks and five steals.
The Cowgirls did most of their work down low during the game, scoring 34 of their 59 points in the paint for the game as well as outrebounding ORU, 43-32.
OSU never got on track from beyond the 3-point line, connecting on just one of its 14 attempts.
OSU will be back in action on Monday Nov. 30 when it hosts Washington State at 7 p.m. inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
