Cowgirls Resume ITA All-American Qualifying

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State women's tennis began play in the Riviera ITA All-American qualifying round today.
The Cowgirls began the day with a pair of doubles matches at the renowned Riviera Tennis Club. The No. 35 duo of Katarina Adamovic and Vladica Babic gave the Cowgirls a positive start to the day with a victory against No. 44 Anki Wind and Hanna Sohn of Memphis, 8-7(4).
Another Cowgirl pairing picked up a victory in the first round of doubles qualifying, as No. 36 Viktoriya Lushkova and Carla Tur Mari defeated Klara Fabikova and Karla Popvic of California. Lushkova and Tur Mari handily defeated the Golden Bears, 8-1, to advance to the next round of doubles competition.
The second round of doubles will begin on Wednesday. Adamovic and Babic will take on Kiah Generette and Blair Shankle of Baylor. Lushkova and Tur Mari will open the round of 16 against Daneika Borthwick and Yukako Noi of Florida State.
The Cowgirls carried the positive momentum from doubles into singles play, where No. 70 Babic defeated No. 93 Quinn Gleason of Notre Dame in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
Later in the day, Babic fell to No. 23 Jasmine Lee of Mississippi State in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.
Senior Kelsey Laurente dropped a tough match to No. 32 Belinda Woolcock of Florida in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Later in the evening, Laurente defeated No. 51 Lynn Kiro of Texas Tech in the consoloation portion of the bracket in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.
