Meraut Reaches Final In Pre-Qualifying Bracket

TULSA – Oklahoma State's Tristan Meraut won two matches on Sunday to earn a spot in the finals of the pre-qualifying bracket at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Meraut started off his day by taking down Drake's Ben Stride in the Round of 128, 6-3, 7-5.
In the Round of 64, the sophomore went head-to-head with Igor Smelyanski of Tennessee. The Cowboy made quick work of the Volunteer, as he won, 6-3, 6-4, respectively.
Cowboys Nathan Roper and Jurence Mendoza also played on Sunday, but couldn't get past the Round of 128. Mendoza lost the first set tiebreak 7-6(3) to Loyola Marymount's Charles Boyce and couldn't bounce back, falling 7-6(3), 6-1. Roper battled with Max Andrews of Miami (FL), but fell short, 6-3, 6-3.
Tomorrow, Oklahoma State's Julian Cash, Lucas Gerch and No. 9-seed Arjun Kadhe will start play in the qualifying bracket.
Meraut will look to join his teammates tomorrow morning, as he faces either Ricardo Medinilla of Purdue or Southern Illinois' Wilder Pimentel at 8 a.m. to earn a spot in the qualifying bracket.
