Forte is Big 12 Player of the Week

STILLWATER - After averaging 20.5 points per game in wins at Missouri and against Kansas State, Oklahoma State guard Phil Forte was voted as Big 12 Player of the Week by members of the media who cover the conference. It is the first such honor for the junior from Flower Mound, Texas.
Forte scored 21 points and came up with a big steal late in the game to seal the Cowboys' 74-72 overtime win over the Tigers in front of a decidedly pro-Missouri crowd at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, then came back to score 20 points - seven of which came during the decisive seven-minute stretch in the second half - to lift the Cowboys to a 61-47 triumph over the Wildcats in the Big 12 opener for both squads.
Forte converted on 14-of-24 attempts from the field (.583 pct.) and 6-of-12 attempts from three-point range (.500 pct.) in the two wins. As part of OSU's victory over the Wildcats, Forte became the 40th player in school history to eclipse the 1,000-point scoring mark for his career.
On the year, Forte ranks second in the Big 12 with 17.3 points scored per game. He leads the conference and ranks eighth nationally with 2.77 steals per game.
