STILLWATER - Twenty years ago, in the spring of 1995, the Oklahoma State men's basketball team put together a seven-game postseason winning streak that resulted in a Big Eight tournament championship and the school's first trip to the Final Four in more than four decades.
Members of that 1995 squad will return to Stillwater to commemorate the 20-year anniversary of that Final Four run during a halftime ceremony of the Feb. 7 game between the Cowboys and Kansas Jayhawks.
"We're excited to honor our 1994-95 team as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of a great run to the Final Four," OSU coach Travis Ford said. "We welcome them back with open arms and are thrilled to have them return to Gallagher-Iba Arena. That team's run was a shining moment in our history and I look forward to being around those guys."
The 1994-95 Cowboys finished the season 27-10, including a 12-0 record at Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowboys went 10-4 in Big Eight play. In Kansas City, OSU knocked off Nebraska, Oklahoma and Iowa State en route to a league tournament title.
In the NCAA bracket, the Cowboys blew out Drexel in the first round and was a 66-52 winner over Alabama in the second round. In the Sweet 16, OSU upset Tim Duncan and top-seeded Wake Forest, 71-66. In the regional championship game, the Cowboys picked up another double-digit victory with a 68-54 win over Massachusetts that punched OSU's ticket to Seattle and the Final Four.
Members of the 1994-95 roster included Chad Alexander, Ben Baum, Terry Collins, Mike Hendren, Jerome Lambert, Kevin Miles, John Nelson, Andre Owens, Scott Pierce, Bryant "Big Country" Reeves, Chianti Roberts, Maurice Robinson, Randy Rutherford, Jason Skaer and Randy Staats.
