January 29, 2015 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER - Oklahoma State signee Jawun Evans (Dallas, Texas/Kimball HS) earned a spot in the 2015 McDonald's All-America Game, it was announced. The six-foot point guard will represent the East team in this year's contest, slated for April 1 at the United Center in Chicago.
Evans' selection adds to Oklahoma State's continued McDonald's All-America presence, as he joins former Cowboys Glendon Alexander (1996), Byron Eaton (2005), Gerald Green (2005), James Anderson (2007), Le'Bryan Nash (2011) and Marcus Smart (2012) in the game.
"We're really excited for Juwan. He's worked really hard and deserves this honor," OSU coach Travis Ford said. "He's the consummate point guard who makes everyone around him better and he truly loves the game of basketball - he studies it and he plays with a smile on his face. We're excited for our basketball program as well to be able to have someone of his character and his basketball ability on our team. Juwan is a special player and making the McDonald's All-America game is a great, great honor."
Earning the distinction of being a McDonald's All-American is one of the most prestigious accolades available to a high school basketball player. This year's list of nominees included 823 players from 47 states, with only 24 earning a spot on either the East or West roster.
The list of past McDonald's All-Americans includes Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Jason Kidd, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, Derrick Rose, Isiah Thomas and Shaquille O'Neal, among numerous other prominent names.
