Former Cowboy Basketball Player Larry Hayes Passes Away

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Former Oklahoma State basketball player Larry Hayes passed away on Saturday, Jan. 10, at the age of 88 years old.
Hayes played at the guard position for coach Henry Iba, and was a member of the 1946 Oklahoma A&M national championship team and the 1949 National Runner-up team.
Hayes was born January 30, 1926, in Alba, Missouri. After graduating from Webb City High School, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Air Corp Pilot Training Program. Hayes enrolled at Oklahoma A&M after being discharged.
After earning a Doctorate in Education from Oklahoma State in 1962, Hayes served on the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education for 21 years, eventually holding the position of Vice Chancellor.
Hayes is survived by his wife, Maggie Parks Hayes, his four sons, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
