September 23, 2014 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's Cowgirl softball team will host the Northern Oklahoma College-Enid Jets in a fall scrimmage game Wednesday afternoon at the Cowgirl Softball Complex. First pitch is slated for 5 pm and admission is free.
OSU defeated Eastern Oklahoma State 12-1 in its first game of the fall season last Wednesday. In that 10-inning contest, freshman Maddie Holcomb went 4-for-6 with two runs scored, while fellow freshman Jessi Haffner went 3-for-5 with two runs and four runs batted in. She and sophomore Peyton Walker also hit a home run.
In the circle, sophomore Meagan Lively threw the first four innings, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out six. Walker threw a hitless fifth, and transfer Brandi Needham allowed one run on five hits while striking out four in four innings of work. Haffner threw the final inning, giving up a walk with two strikeouts.
NOC-Enid is in its second season of action at the National Junior College Athletic Association level, and returns 12 sophomores from a team that went 38-20 a year ago. Lacey Shipp, a sophomore from Perkins, Okla., was a second-team NJCAA All-American as a freshman.
