Cowgirls Wrap Up Second Day of Fall Play

CARY, N.C./LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Oklahoma State's women's tennis team finished up its second day of play of fall play at the Duke Fab Four Invitational and the CCLR Collegiate Invite.
At Duke, sophomore Viktoriya Lushkova advanced to the finals of her singles bracket, taking out Sinead Lohan of Miami in the quarterfinals and Josie Kuhlman of Florida in the semis.
She will take on No. 89 Belinda Woolcock of Florida in the finals at 9:30 a.m. CT on Sunday.
Kelsey Laurente, a Cowgirl transfer from the University of Miami, went 1-1 on the day, falling to Duke's Samantha Harris before defeating No. 115 Natalia Maynetto of Alabama in straight sets. She will face Peggy Porter of Florida in tomorrow's fifth-place match.
Vladica Babic and Katarina Adamovic each suffered two singles losses on the day, knocking them out of competition.
In Little Rock, Ark., Cowgirl tandem Carla Tur Mari and Maria Alvarez picked up an 8-6 win over the Houston duo of Cardenas/Rupert, but then suffered an 8-7 (6) loss to the No. 1-seeded team of Pang and Shkorupeieva from Arkansas.
In singles, each Cowgirl notched a win. Alvarez defeated Nicole Breaux of Arkansas in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0. Junior Karyn Guttormsen and sophomore Carla Tur Mari each tallied three-set wins, with Guttormsen defeating Maria Jose Cardona of Kansas and Tur Mari taking down Memphis's Liz Tymcenko.
Competition continues for Cowgirls at both tournaments on Sunday.
