Former Cowboy Hoopster Dies at 91

Clarence Leon "Ace" Parker, a former member of the Cowboy Basketball team, died Saturday, July 5, in Amarillo, Texas. He was 91 years old.
The West Plains, Mo., native joined Henry Iba's Oklahoma A&M squad after serving in World War II from 1943-1945. After a nine-year coaching career at high schools in Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas, Parker worked as a scout for Iba's Olympics campaigns in 1968 and 1972.
Parker is survived by his wife, Edith, daughters Linda and Melissa, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Amarillo, Texas.
