STILLWATER, Okla. -
The Oklahoma State men's tennis team has hired Nate Feldman as the program's new assistant coach, head coach Jay Udwadia announced on Monday.
"I'm extremely excited have Nate join the team," Udwadia said. "He comes in with a lot of experience, he will fit in with the team well and he's done extremely well as a coach with various high-quality programs. He will do a solid job for us in all aspects of the team, and I'm looking forward to having him be a big part of this team."
A native of Minneapolis, Minn., Feldman joins the Cowboys after spending the last three years at Norfolk State, where he coached both the men's and women's tennis squads. Feldman's successful reign with the Spartans landed him MEAC Coach of the Year honors in 2013, when the men's team earned its first share of a conference title in school history.
Before taking over at Norfolk State, Feldman gained invaluable coaching experience as an assistant at multiple top-tier programs, including a role with the 2010 North Carolina women's team, which reached the NCAA Semifinals and spent four weeks as the nation's top-ranked team. Following his run with the Tar Heels, Feldman helped guide the Middle Tennessee State men's squad to a Sun Belt tournament title, earning him a nomination for the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Assistant Coach of the Year award.
Feldman's coaching resume also includes a stint on the international circuit, as he instructed numerous players involved in the ATP, WTA, ITF and USTA. He has established a heavy influence in Colombia, primarily with helping the country's top talents earn spots with Division I programs.
Prior to beginning his coaching career, Feldman compiled a four-year playing career at the University of Minnesota, where he co-captained the Golden Gophers to a top-ten finish in 2003. Off the court, he majored in sports studies and coaching, excelling enough to grab three-consecutive All-Academic Big Ten honors.
"It's an honor to have an opportunity to coach at Oklahoma State," Feldman said. "It's truly a first class university and athletic department with world class facilities. I'm excited to start working with the team and help Coach Udwadia take the program to new heights."
