Caldwell Crowned World Champ at University Worlds

PECS, Hungary – Former Oklahoma State wrestler Tyler Caldwell defeated Russia's Shamil-Imam Osmanov in the finals of the University World Championships on Tuesday in Pecs, Hungary.
Caldwell, a native of Wichita, Kan., wrestled at 74 kilos/163 pounds, where he rolled through the competition to earn a spot in the finals.
In his first bout of the day, he defeated Robert Olle of Slovakia, 10-2, before shutting out Canada's Shawn Daye-Finley in the semifinals, 7-0.
In the finals, Caldwell defeated Osmanov, posting a 3-2 victory to earn the gold.
Wrapping up an outstanding collegiate career, Caldwell was a four-time All-American and two-time NCAA finalist while wrestling for the Sooners (2009-11) and the Cowboys (2012-14).
Fellow Cowboy Chris Perry will wrestle tomorrow for a shot at the 86 kg title.
