Cowboys Set for U20 World Team Trials & U23 Nationals

STILLWATER - Oklahoma State Wrestling sends 15 incoming and current Cowboys to Geneva, Ohio, this week for the U20 World Team Trials and U23 Nationals, where they have an opportunity to earn a spot on Team USA during competition from Friday through Sunday.

The event features a full challenge tournament and best-of-three championship series. Each U20 bracket has a spot in the championship series reserved for winners from last month's U.S. Open, but the U23 division does not. This weekend's champions in the U20 competition will seal their place at the World Championships this fall, while the U23 winners do not automatically make Team USA due to the possibility of age-eligible athletes on the Senior National Team electing to take the spot.

Thanks to his title at the U.S. Open, NCAA champion Landon Robideau awaits the 70 kg challenger in a best-of-three series. Last season, Robideau qualified for the best-of-three championship series but fell to PJ Duke.

Dee Lockett returns to Geneva hoping to repeat last year's success when qualified for Team USA with a decisive two-match defeat of Jayden James in the best-of-three final. The Stillwater native will have to go through the challenger field this time.

Incoming freshman Dreshaun Ross, competing at the 125kg weight class, looks to bounce back from last year's loss in the finals and qualify for Team USA. Ronnie Ramirez (57 kg) and Kody Routledge (74 kg) also take the mat this weekend with hopes of qualifying for Team USA's U20 squad.

Heading to the U23 side of competition, Troy Spratley is the lone Cowboy at the 57kg weight class. Anchoring the 61 kg class, JJ McComas and Jake Hamiti, brother of former Cowboy and NCAA champion Dean Hamiti, make their U23 Nationals debut.

A trio of Cowboys are in 70 kg bracket. Cutter Sheets and Kolter Burton return to Geneva following successful stints in the 2025 edition of the tournament, with the two Cowboys combining for a 6-4 record. Beau Hickman also makes his debut in the event.

Ishmael Guerrero (74 kg) moves up to the U23 field following a 2-2 showing at last year's U20 tournament. Casey Swiderski, coming off an impressive first year at Oklahoma State, joins him at 74 kg to take on the loaded U23 field. Rounding out the field of Cowboys, Bennett Berge (86 kg) competes for the first time since signing with OSU earlier this month, and Austin Johnson is the sole Poke at the 92 kg weight class.
