Incoming Cowgirls Victorious At State Match Plays

STLLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State incoming freshman Kenzie Neisen posted a 3-and-2 victory in the title match on Wednesday to claim the Minnesota Women's State Match Play Championship at Minneapolis Golf Club.
Neisen knocked off Anna Laorr to win the event at the par-73, 6,274-yard layout.
After receiving a bye in the first round, Neisen defeated Lynn Andreson, 6 and 5, in the round of 16 before notching a 1-up triumph over Cassie Deeg in their quarterfinal matchup. Neisen defeated Katherine Marie Smith by a 5-and-4 count in the semifinal round to move into the final match.
Neisen's classmate Maddie McCrary is also competing this week in her home state of Texas. The freshman-to-be will continue play tomorrow morning with her quarterfinal match at the Texas State Amateur Championship at Bent Tree Country Club in Dallas.
McCrary tied for third place during stroke play to advance to the match play portion of the event. After knocking off Janie Schneder Guynes in the first round, 7 and 5, she posted a 5-and-3 win over Layne Anderson in the round of 16.
