STILLWATER -- Jared Terrell, a senior at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire who signed a National Letter of Intent with Oklahoma State's Cowboy Basketball team last November, has requested and been granted a release from his LOI due to unforeseen circumstances in regards to his family, head coach Travis Ford announced today.
"I think it's better that Jared stay close to home, due to the recent passing of his grandmother, along with other family issues we've been dealing with," said Terrell's mother, Michelle Ross. "It's been hard on our family, and this is a tough decision to make. Jared was looking forward to attending Oklahoma State, but this is what's best for our family at this time."
Terrell, a 6-3 guard originally from Weymouth, Mass., was one of six future Cowboys who has signed with Oklahoma State for the upcoming 2014-15 season.
"We are disappointed that Jared won't be a part of the Cowboy Basketball family," Ford said. "He's had a lot of unfortunate circumstances occur in his life recently, and I understand that his family and their well-being takes precedence. We wish him nothing but the best, and hope that everything works out for him."
