STILLWATER – The third-ranked Oklahoma State equestrian team capped off its regular season with a dominating 15-5 win over Tennessee-Martin Saturday at Animal Science Arena.
It was the third-straight victory for OSU (8-3) and the eighth out of the last nine.
Junior Allie Joyce kicked off the scoring for the Cowgirls after her 79-68 win over Caitlyn Epperson. It was her first win in the equitation over fences event this season. Freshman Jorden Davis also picked up a victory over Nora Wilson, 80-76. Tennessee-Martin won the equitation over fences event, 3-2.
The Skyhawks would only score two more points the rest of the day.
In the reining event, senior Jenna Blumer earned her third Most Outstanding Performer award of the season thanks to her 72-70.5 win over Laney Hixson. Sophomore Justine Peters defeated Katie Kellevig, 71.5-70.5, improving to 9-2 this season. Junior Katy Krshka picked up her sixth win this year in the event after her 71-69 win over Megan Foley and sophomore Erin Willoughby defeated Melanie Aiosa, 70-68.5. OSU won the reining event, 4-1.
The Cowgirls would also tally four points in the equitation on the flat event. Senior Sammy Elser recorded her third Most Outstanding Performer award this season for her 77-76 win over Hunter Ralston. Senior Samantha Harrison picked up her seventh win in the discipline with her 76-75 score over Reid Rickett. Senior Ali Rose and Davis also earned victories, scoring 73 and 66, respectively. OSU won the equitation on the flat event, 4-1.
The horsemanship squad racked up five points for the Cowgirls, ensuring the overall victory. It was the seventh time this season that the Cowgirls had kept the opponent off the scoreboard in an event. Krshka earned her team-leading ninth Most Outstanding Performer honor this season after her 77-74 win over Cora Rogalski, improving to 9-2 in the event. Sophomore Paris Nottingham tallied a 77.5 in her victory over Laurel Ellzey, her sixth win of the season. Senior Lauren Halvorson defeated Jordan Elmore, 76.5-71.5 and junior Lindsey McMullen and Ty Paris both recorded scores of 75.5 in their wins.
The Cowgirls will have two weeks to prepare for the Big 12 tournament on March 28-29 in Waco, Texas. OSU holds the top seed in the tournament and will take on Kansas State in the first round.
