No. 3 Cowgirl Equestrian Advances to Big 12 Championship

WACO, Texas – The No. 3 Oklahoma State equestrian team defeated No. 5 Kansas State, 10-9, in a thrilling contest to move to their fourth-straight Big 12 Championship final at Willis Family Equestrian Center in Waco, Texas.
Two judges score the events during the Big 12 Championships and the scores are combined for the rider's official score.
In the covered arena, the equitation over fences team earned three points for the Cowgirls (9-3). Senior Samantha Harrison picked up a 165-155 victory over Alexis Graves. It was her seventh win in the last eight matches in the discipline. Junior Maggie Gampfer defeated Henley Adkins in a close matchup, 155-153. It was her fourth win of the season and her first since Jan. 31 at Delaware State. Senior Sammy Elser tallied a 150 en route to her victory over Cat Avolese for her seventh win in the event and third out of the last four. OSU won the equitation over fences event, 3-1.
In the equitation on the flat event, the Cowgirls earned two points thanks to seniors Andrea Robbins and Elser. Robbins recorded a 140-131 win over Madison Wayda for her fourth win in five matches in the discipline. Elser defeated Jacquelyn Bogstad, 139-126, for her third-straight victory in the event and sixth overall. Kansas State won the equitation on the flat event, 3-2.
In the outdoor arena, the reining squad posted three points for OSU. Sophomore Justine Peters earned a close 142-140 victory over Jordan Cox. She improved to 9-2 this season and it was her ninth win in the last 10 matches. Junior Katy Krshka tallied a 141.5 in her win over Kara Guy, in another match decided by two points or less, 141.5-140. It was her third-straight win and fifth in the last six matches. Senior Jenna Blumer also picked up a win by defeating Jesse Johnson, 139-130.5, for her eighth win in the last nine matches. OSU won the reining event, 3-2.
The horsemanship squad picked up two points for the Cowgirls. Krshka earned her 10th win of the season in the discipline thanks to her 147.5-140.5 win over Amelia Crites. It was her third win in the last four matches. Also, senior Lauren Halvorson defeated Chayna DeNicolo, 146-134. It was her fifth consecutive win and ninth overall this season. Kansas State won the horsemanship event, 3-2.
