Cowboy Tennis Wraps Up Day Two at Dickie V Classic

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – Cowboys Nicolai Ferrigno and Jurence Mendoza competed in the second day of competition at the Dickie V Clay Court Classic on Saturday in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
The day started with doubles as Ferrigno and Mendoza took on the top-seeded Gomes/Zuem duo of North Florida in the semifinals of the doubles main draw. The Cowboys put up a fight, taking the match to a tiebreaker, but were eventually beat out, 8-7(5).
Ferrigno started his second day of singles consolation play with a commanding 6-2, 6-2 victory over Run Hao Hua of Michigan. In the consolation semifinals, the Cowboy senior led FGCU's Eduardo Alfonzo, 6-1, 3-2, but the match was postponed due to rain. Play will resume tomorrow for Ferrigno.
