How I Got Here: Nicolai Ferrigno

STILLWATER, Okla. - "How I Got Here" is a series that asks Oklahoma State athletes to detail their athletic background and careers and how they got to where they are now. Today's edition features men's tennis player Nicolai Ferrigno from Hvidovre, Denmark.
When did you start playing tennis?
"I was like eight or 10, maybe nine. My friend played, and he took me to a practice and I ended up beating him even though he had been playing for years. So, I guess that's what started it. I played soccer instead, but then I came back to tennis pretty late."
Why tennis over soccer?
"I was injured all of the time. I was tired of people messing up. I could play a good game, but we'd still lose."
Who's your favorite tennis athlete?
"Roger Federer because you can't put a finger on him."
Why did you chose to attend OSU?
"I don't know exactly. I was at Cameron University in eastern Oklahoma before, so when you walk around campus you'd always see people with OU or OSU clothes. When I got an offer from OSU, it was big and I just wanted to try it out."
How have you improved in your collegiate career?
"I got mentally stronger and I just got tougher in general, I think. I'm in much better shape for sure, and I'm more discipline in everything that I do.”
