Austyn Iven Named Top 10 Freshman

A native of Stillwater, Iven saw action in eight games for the Cowgirls' NCAA Sweet 16 team and was named to the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team during her freshman season.
A member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Iven is also active with the Association for Women in Sports Media, Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and the OSU Children's Hospital Dance Marathon executive team.
Iven, a sports media major, was honored for her work in the classroom, earning the OSU Student-Athlete Academic Achievement Award and appearing on the President's Honor Roll and the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
The students are selected based on criteria that includes scholarship, community service, campus involvement and outstanding leadership throughout their freshman year. They are also judged on their individual performance during an extensive interview process. The annual selection process is coordinated by the Achafoa Chapter of Mortar Board at OSU.
The students were formally recognized during a ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 4, in the Browsing Room of Edmon Low Library and again later that day during halftime of the OSU-Iowa State football game.
