Cowgirl Softball Prepares For Sunday Doubleheader
October 03, 2014 | Cowgirl Softball
The Oklahoma State Cowgirl softball team will host the Arkansas Razorbacks in a fall exhibition doubleheader on Sunday at the Cowgirl Softball Complex. First pitch is set for 1 p.m., and admission is free.
Oklahoma State defeated Southern Nazarene, 10-5, in its third game of the fall last Wednesday, pushing the Cowgirls' fall scrimmage record to 3-0. In the 10-inning contest, freshman Vanessa Shippy went 2-6 with a home run, helping her bring a blistering .500 batting average into this weekend's twinbill.
Meagan Lively earned her third-straight start, allowing only four hits over the first four frames while striking out four. Brandi Needham's four innings of relief kept the Southern Nazarene bats at bay before Peyton Walker closed out the Cowgirls' victory, striking out two in a scoreless 10th.
Arkansas returns 16 players from last year's 27-28 squad, including 2013 NFCA All-South Region selections Kasey Fagan and Devon Wallace. The Cowgirls last faced the Razorbacks during the 2013 fall season, splitting a doubleheader at Arkansas' Bogle Park.
