During a 10-minute scrimmage, the White squad defeated the Orange team 35-28, led by senior Michael Cobbins' 10 points. Junior Phil Forte finished with nine, all on three pointers, and senior transfer Anthony Hickey had four assists.
For the Orange, junior-college transfers Jeff Newberry and Anthony Allen each had eight points, mostly on uncontested dunks. Senior Le'Bryan Nash added six, while sophomore Leyton Hammonds grabbed four rebounds. Freshman Tyree Griffin dished out six assists, mostly on the dunks.
The Cowboys open the 2014-15 season unofficially on Saturday, Nov. 8, when OSU hosts Missouri Western in an exhibition contest starting at 2 pm. Admission to the game will be free.
