Cowgirls Wrap Up Competition in Maui

The Oklahoma State women's tennis team wrapped up play at the Hawaii Pacific Hidden Duals in Maui, Hawaii, on Saturday. The Cowgirls finished the weekend strong, taking all four doubles matches and three of six singles matches on the tournament's final day. The team notched a 20-11 overall record on the weekend.
The Cowgirls were impressive in doubles play this weekend, winning eight of eleven matches. Each Oklahoma State doubles team was victorious in two matches over the course of the tournament. Viktoriya Lushkova and Katarina Adamovic knocked off Louise Kwong and Misia Kedzierski of Illinois, 6-2. The Cowgirl duo of Kanyapat Narattana and Carla Tur Mari were also victorious on Saturday, defeating Melissa Kopinski and Alexis Casati, 6-3. The Cowgirl tandems of Karyn Guttormsen and Maria Alvarez, and Morgan McCray and Mariah Burke were triumphant on Saturday as well.
Junior Karyn Guttormsen and freshman Viktoriya Lushkova led the Cowgirls in singles this weekend, winning two of their three matches. Lushkova's second victory in Maui came on Saturday when she snagged the win over Melissa Kopinski of Illinois , 6-0, 6-4. Carla Tur Mari and Maria Alvarez won their matches in straight sets on Saturday as well. Tur Mari downed Misia Kedzierski , 6-1, 6-2, while Alvarez defeated Louise Kwong, 6-4, 6-4.
"Overall, this was a very productive trip," Cowgirl tennis coach Chris Young said. "We played good doubles and came out with a lot of positives heading into our matches next weekend. I am looking forward to a good week of practice and preparation for the ITA Kickoff Weekend."
The Cowgirls will travel to Chicago, Ill., next weekend to compete at the ITA Kickoff Weekend. Oklahoma State will begin the tournament by facing No. 15 Northwestern on Saturday at 11 a.m.
