STILLWATER - Oklahoma State's Cowgirl softball team wraps up the home portion of the fall schedule this Wednesday, Oct. 2, when OSU takes on Connors State in a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium.
Last week against Independence Community College, the Cowgirls won the first game of the doubleheader 4-0 as freshman Meagan Lively threw a one-hit shutout while striking out 17 batters.
In game two, senior pitcher Simone Freeman was just as effective, allowing just one hit while walking two and striking out 10 in five innings of the nightcap to lead the Cowgirls to a 13-0 victory.
Offensively, sophomore Tiffany Mikkelson went 3-for-3 in the first contest with two runs batted in and one scored. Senior Ari Morrison went 2-for-3 in that game as well. In the second contest, newcomer Michaela Patton, a transfer from Savannah State, went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, while freshman Peyton Walker went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
This weekend, Oklahoma State is hosting a Cowgirl Softball Alumni Reunion. Team members from the past will participate in an alumni softball game on Friday evening, and a team and alumni tailgate is scheduled for Saturday prior to the OSU vs Kansas State game.
After the series with Connors State, the Cowgirls will hit the road and take on Tulsa in a doubleheader on Saturday, Oct. 12, beginning at noon. OSU will wrap up its fall slate on Saturday, Oct. 20, when the Cowgirls travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to take on the Razorbacks in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
