Sachs Advances To Semis At Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational

Oklahoma State's men's tennis team wrapped up its second day of fall competition on Saturday with remarkable performances from Brady Bohrnstedt and newcomer Sebastian Sachs.
Sachs, representing the Cowboys at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational in Midland, Texas, defeated Texas' Clement Homs and Texas Tech's Francisco Zambon to move on to the competition's semifinal round. After taking a close three set match with Homs, Sachs made quick work of Zambon to improve his singles record as a Cowboy to 3-0.
The Germany-native will move on to face Texas' Soren Hess-Olesen, who came into the tournament as the tenth-ranked player in nation, earning him the competition's top-overall seed. A win over Hess-Olesen would move Sachs into the championship match against Texas Tech's Felipe Soares or Andy Bettles of Boise State.
Bohrnstedt also recorded a victory for the Cowboys today with a 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 upset over Adrian Berkowicz, the tournament's fifth-overall seed. However, Bohrnstedt's stay at the tournament was ended in a tight loss to Soares in the quarterfinal round.
In Napa, Lucas Gerch and Nathan Roper both recorded their first Cowboy victories in straight set wins over Idaho's Artemiy Nitikin and Andrew Zedde, respectively. Gerch also played a role in a doubles victory with teammate Vasili Caripi in the pair's 8-5 triumph over UNLV's Tamas Batyi and Willie Sublette.
The team will conclude play in both Napa and Midland after tomorrow's matches.
