Cowgirl Tennis Continues Play at Duke Invitational

The Oklahoma State women's tennis team continued competition at the Duke Invitational on Saturday in Cary, N.C.
Cowgirl freshmen Megan McCray and Carla Tur Mari both earned the first collegiate victories of their careers on Saturday. McCray defeated Texas A&M's Stefania Hristov, 6-2, 6-3 in her first match of the day to advance to the Blue singles bracket consolation semifinals where she followed up the win with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph over Furman's Ansley Speaks. Tur Mari won her match by default over Annat Rabinovich of Texas before falling to Furman's Alex Moreno-Kaste in the Black singles bracket consolation semifinals, 6-4, 6-1.
In other singles action, Cowgirl Karyn Guttormsen fell to No. 33 Whitney Kay of North Carolina, then dropped a match to Florida's Kourtney Keegan, 6-4, 6-3, in the Blue singles fifth place bracket. In the White singles bracket, No. 44 Ester Goldfeld defeated Cowgirl senior Kanyapat Narattana, 6-4, 6-4. Narattana would later be defeated by Florida's Belinda Woolcock in the fifth place bracket.
In doubles, Guttormsen and McCray dropped their match to Mississippi's Erin Stephens and Iris Verboven, 8-1, in the Black doubles bracket consolation finals. In the white doubles bracket, Duke's Hanna Mar and Alyssa Smith defeated Cowgirls Narattana and Tur Mari, 8-4, in the White bracket consolation third place bracket.
The Cowgirls will wrap up competition at the Duke Invitational on Sunday. Competition is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. CT.
