Cowboy Tennis Finishes Day One Of Fall Openers

The Oklahoma State men's tennis team opened its 2013-14 fall season on Friday with matches in Napa, Calif., and Midland Texas.
Two Cowboys advanced to the round of 16 in the singles bracket of the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational, while four others dominated doubles play at the Napa Valley Collegiate Invitational.
Making his debut as a Cowboy, third-seeded Sebastian Sachs advanced with a first round bye and a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory over Boise State's Garrett Patton. On the other side of the bracket, Brady Bohrnstedt also surged through the first and second rounds with a bye and a perfect 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Rice's David Warren.
With wins tomorrow, Sachs and Borhnstedt would move on to the quarterfinal round of the tournament. After a loss on Friday, Matt Campbell will continue play in the competition's consolation bracket. Chris Haworth was unable to compete due to injury.
In Napa, the Cowboys provided a stellar doubles performance after falling in all four singles matches. Lucas Gerch and Vasili Caripi both made their collegiate debuts in an 8-4 win over Idaho's Artemiy Nikitin and Odon Barta, while Trevor Horstmann and Nathan Roper teamed up for the first time to defeat Cesar Torres and Yevan Payah, 8-5.
In singles play tomorrow, the Cowboys will take on Idaho's quartet of players and match up against UNLV in doubles.
