Cowboy Tennis Set To Open 2013-14 Season

STILLWATER, Okla. -
Oklahoma State's men's tennis team will make its 2013 fall debut this weekend when it travels to Napa, Calif., for the Napa Valley Collegiate Invitational.
The team-rotation style tournament will pit the Cowboys against members of multiple teams that held spots in last season's Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Team Rankings, including Idaho, UNLV, South Florida and Arizona. Each squad will be represented by four players and will rotate between singles and doubles play each day of the tournament.
Senior Trevor Horstmann will return to the competition for the second consecutive year, while Lucas Gerch, Vasili Caripi and Nathan Roper are set to make their collegiate debuts. Horstmann and Roper will kick off doubles play on Friday with a match against Idaho's Cesar Torres and Andrew Zedde, while Gerch and Caripi face Idaho's duo of Artemiy Nikitin and Odon Barta.
Coinciding with the Napa Invitational is this weekend's Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational in Midland, Texas, where Chris Haworth, Brady Bohrnstedt, Matt Campbell and Sebastian Sachs will compete for the Cowboys.
Sachs, making his OSU debut, was awarded the tournament's No. 3 overall seed and a first round bye. Sachs was seeded behind Texas' Soren Hess-Olesen and Boise State's Andy Bettles, the 10th and 21st-ranked players in the 2013 ITA Preseason Singles Rankings. The newcomer's first match as a Cowboy will come against either Wichita State's Tomislav Gregurovic or Garrett Patton of Boise State.
