Cowgirls Gear Up for Wichita State

STILLWATER - The Oklahoma State softball team returns home this Wednesday, April 10, to host the Wichita State Shockers at 7 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium.
The Cowgirls (24-17, 2-4 Big 12) are 73-7 all-time against the Shockers (15-20, 6-5 Missouri Valley) in a series that started in 1978. OSU has won four out of the last five meetings with WSU, including last season's contest when the Cowgirls defeated the Shockers 2-1 in eight innings. The first meeting between these two teams, scheduled for last Wednesday in Wichita, was cancelled due to weather.
Offensively, Tarah Ettinger continues to lead the team in batting average (.355) hits (43) home runs (7), slugging percentage (.579) and runs batted in (31). Tamara Brown is hitting .330 with 38 hits, 10 doubles and 27 runs scored. Since her return from injury, Ari Morrison is batting .455 with 15 hits, two doubles and a home run.
In the circle, junior Simone Freeman is 11-17 and has a 2.18 earned run average with 145 strikeouts. Senior Kat Espinosa (13-10) has 160 strikeouts in 33 appearances and a 2.26 ERA.
After the midweek game with Wichita State, the Cowgirls will travel to Waco, Texas, to open a three-game Big 12 series against Baylor, April 12-14.
