NEW ORLEANS - Oklahoma State's Toni Young picked up her second All-America honor of the week, garnering honorable mention status on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division I Coaches' All-America team it was announced on Saturday.
On Tuesday, Young was named an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press.
A native of Del City, Okla., Young was a unanimous first-team All-Big 12 pick as well as a WBCA All-Region 5 selection this year. The MVP at this year's Surf `N Slam Classic, she started all 33 of the Cowgirls' games and was the squad's leading scorer (16.0 ppg) and rebounder (10.1 rpg). Young also finished the year with a team-best 16 double-doubles.
On two occasions she was named the Big 12 Player of the Week and also became the first player in school history to record 1,000 points, 800 rebounds and 100 blocks during her career. Young finished her career ranked among the school's top 10 in scoring, rebounding blocked shots, games played, field-goal percentage and double-doubles.
She is the first Cowgirl to be honored by the WBCA since Andrea Riley received honorable mention All-America status in 2008.
