Cowgirls Fall In Second Annual Bedlam Cup

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's golf team hosted in-state rival Oklahoma on Saturday at Karsten Creek in the second installment of the Bedlam Cup with the Sooners prevailing by an 8-3 count.
The Cowgirls jumped out to a 2-1 lead after the morning's foursome matches. Hillary Wood and Kelsey Vines knocked off Chirapat Jao-Javanil and Taylor Scmidt, 4 and 2, to get OSU on the board. The senior duo held a 1-up lead at the turn before winning Nos. 14, 15 and 16 to close out the match.
Junior Amy Ruengmateekhun and freshman Julie Yang defeated Anne-Catherine Tanguay and Jacki Marshall, 1 up, to claim OSU's second point. The Cowgirl duo lost the 10th to stand 2-down before halving the next five holes. Ruengmateekhun and Yang won the final three holes to flip the score in their favor.
The Sooners got on the board with a 2 and 1 win by Emily Collins and Kaitlyn Rohrback over freshman Megan Blonien and junior Josephine Janson.
Singles play saw Oklahoma log wins in six of the eight matches, while the Cowgirls were held to a pair of halves.
Marshall knocked off Wood, 2 and 1, in a match that was all square on three different occasions and neither player led by more than one until Marshall won the 17th to provide the final margin.
Schmidt defeated Blonien, 5 and 4, while Collins played her first 10 holes against junior Jayde Panos in 5-under par en route to an 8 and 7 victory.
Junior Lauren Falley got OSU on the board during the afternoon session with a half point against Rohrback in a match that was squared up five different times and saw Rohrback take the final two holes to scratch back to even.
Jao-Javanil posted a 5 and 4 win over Ruengmateekhun and halved her match with Yang. The OSU rookie held a 3-up advantage through 10 before Jao-Javanil won four of the next five to take her first lead with three to play. However, Yang bounced back to square the match and draw OSU's second half point of the afternoon.
Tanguay provided OU's final two points of the day with wins over Vines, 2 and 1, and Janson, 4 and 3.
