Cowgirls Prepare for Rematch with No. 25 Tulsa

STILLWATER - Oklahoma State's Cowgirl softball team will host in-state rival and 25th-ranked Tulsa for a midweek non-conference game on Wednesday, April 24 at 7 p.m. at the Cowgirl Softball Complex. The game will be webcast live on OStateTV.com.
This will mark the 39th meeting between the turnpike-rival schools, with OSU leading the all-time series, 28-11. Earlier this season, the Golden Hurricane (33-13-1, 13-5 Conference USA) defeated the Cowgirls 5-1 in Tulsa.
The Cowgirls are coming off a series win against Big 12-foe Kansas. OSU defeated the Jayhawks Friday and Sunday by the identical score of 3-1. In the series, junior Tarah Ettinger hit .375 with two home runs and five RBIs. Freshman Tiffany Mikkelson also had a great weekend; she had three hits, a home run and two RBIs.
Overall, the offense continues to be a strong point for the Cowgirls. Since coming back from injury at the start of Big 12 play, junior Ari Morrison is leading the team with her .367 batting average. Meanwhile, Ettinger continues to lead the team in five offensive categories: hits (46), home runs (nine), RBIs (36), total bases (79) and slugging percentage (.577). Senior Tamara Brown leads the team in runs scored with 29, and Mikkelson leads the team in doubles with 12.
In the circle, senior Kat Espinosa is 15-14 and has compiled a 2.27 earned run average. In 32 starts, she has struck out 178 batters. In 115-1/3 innings, junior Simone Freeman has a 2.43 ERA and 147 strikeouts.
After Wednesday's game, the Cowgirls (26-21, 4-8 Big 12) travel to Wichita, Kan., to take on the Wichita State Shockers (16-24, 7-9 Missouri Valley) in a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m.
