Cowgirls Ready For Wichita State

STILLWATER, Okla. - The Oklahoma State softball team will travel to Wichita, Kan., on Wednesday for a mid-week tilt with the Wichita State Shockers starting at 4 pm. The game was originally scheduled to begin at 7 pm, but due to incoming weather, the start time was moved up.
The Cowgirls (24-14 overall) are 73-7 all-time against the Shockers (14-18) in a series that started in 1978. OSU has won four out of the last five meetings with WSU, including last season's contest where the Cowgirls won 2-1 in eight innings.
OSU is coming off a weekend where it opened Big 12 play by taking 2-of-3 from Texas Tech, defeating the Red Raiders 2-1 in 10 innings and 4-1 on Saturday. In the series, junior Ari Morrison returned after suffering a knee injury on February 15, and in four at-bats, she had three hits, a double and an RBI. Senior Amy Graham hit .375 on the weekend with three hits and a home run.
On the pitching side, junior Simone Freeman went 1-0 and only allowed one run on three hits while striking out 12.
Overall, the Cowgirls have won 17 out of their last 19 games. Junior Tarah Ettinger is batting .358 with 39 nine hits, five doubles, seven home runs and 28 RBIs. Senior Tamara Brown is also producing with the bat. She is currently hitting .337 with 35 hits, 10 doubles, one home run and 10 RBIs.
Pitching for the Cowgirls continues to be solid. Senior Kat Espinosa is 13-7 with a 1.62 earned run average. In 30 appearances, she has struck out 151 batters while recording just 34 walks. Freeman is 11-7 with a 2.00 ERA. In 108.1 innings of work, she's thrown eight complete games and struck out 142 batters.
After the mid-week game with Wichita State, the Cowgirls will head to Ames, Iowa, to open a three-game Big 12 series against Iowa State, April 5-7.
