Cowgirls Set to Take on Top-Ranked Oklahoma

STILLWATER - The Oklahoma State softball team travels to Oklahoma City on Wednesday to take on top-ranked Oklahoma in a Bedlam battle at 7 p.m. at the Don E. Porter/ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m.
This is the 144th meeting between the Cowgirls and the Sooners dating back to 1975, with OU leading the all-time series 73-70. The Cowgirls are 1-11 all-time against the No. 1 team in the country since the National Fastpitch Coaches Association began keeping track of the poll in 1995, including a 1-0 victory over top-ranked Georgia on Feb. 24, 2011.
Offensively, junior Tarah Ettinger continues to lead the team in batting average (.333), hits (43) home runs (7) and RBIs (31). Senior Tamara Brown is hitting .328 with 27 runs, 10 doubles and 12 RBIs. Freshman Tiffany Mikkelson leads the team with 12 doubles.
In the circle, senior Kat Espinosa is 13-13 and has a 2.24 earned run average. She leads the Big 12 Conference with her 178 innings pitched, and has started 29 games with 172 strikeouts. She threw the complete-game shutout against No. 1 Georgia two years ago. Meanwhile, junior Simone Freeman sports a 2.22 ERA, with 146 strikeouts in 113-1/3 innings.
