STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's men's tennis team recorded its first two wins in Stillwater this season after sweeping Wichita State and Seminole State College on Thursday at the DeBois Tennis Complex.
OSU (10-7) dominated both matches throughout by bringing the team's doubles winning streak to 32 matches and providing consistency with solid individual efforts.
The 70th-ranked pair of Richard Del Nunzio and Denys Pume pushed their undefeated record on the season to 10-0 in an 8-2 win over Tyler Bridges and Wikus Myburgh, while Rifat Biktyakov and Matt Campbell won their eighth-straight victory as a pair to help the Cowboys gain early leads in both matches.
Wichita State threatened at Nos. 4 and 5 by taking both matches to a third set, but Brady Bohrnstedt and Chris Haworth made quick work of their victories, with Campbell providing the decisive victory over the Shockers in a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Tomislav Gregurovic.
The Cowboys handled Seminole State College, the No. 6 JUCO team in the nation, with straight sets singles victories from Trevor Horstmann, Oleksiy Arovin and Richard Del Nunzio. Horstmann also teamed up with Campbell to earn the duo's first doubles victory of the year.
After traveling to Dallas to face SMU on Saturday, the Cowboys will return home next week for a match against Idaho on April 2 to close out nonconference play.
