Albuquerque, N.M. - The Oklahoma State softball team wrapped a perfect weekend in New Mexico by run ruling Siena 12-0 in five innings here Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Cowgirls improved to 22-13 on the season.
Just as they had done all weekend, the Cowgirls got on board first. OSU scored seven runs in the bottom half of the first inning. Shelby Davis scored first when senior Samantha Chrisman reached base on an error by the second baseman. The next batter, freshman Tiffany Mikkelson tripled over the centerfielder's head, scoring Chrisman and junior Tarah Ettinger. Mikkelson scored on a base hit by senior Amy Graham. Finally, Sophomore Gessenia DeLaCruz hit a three-run home run to left field to put OSU up 7-0.
OSU added one in the bottom of the third when DeLaCruz doubled to left center, scoring Graham from second.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Graham's bases-loaded double cleared the bases. Graham later scored on a single up the middle by Ettinger to give OSU the 12-0 run-rule victory.
Offensively for the Cowgirls, Graham went 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs. DeLaCruz was also 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and four RBIs, while freshman Shianne Hughes went 2-for-3.
Junior Simone Freeman (10-7) picked up her 10th win of the season. She allowed just one hit in five innings, striking out five.
The Cowgirls return to Stillwater to open Big 12 Conference play when they take on Texas Tech March 28-30 at Cowgirl Stadium.
