Cowgirls Head to Albuquerque for Weekend Series

Albuquerque, N.M. - The Oklahoma State softball team travels to Albuquerque, N.M., this weekend for its final road trip of the non-conference schedule. The Cowgirls take on New Mexico in a doubleheader Friday at 5 p.m., and face Siena in a single game Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Cowgirls (19-13) lead the all-time series against New Mexico, 19-7, dating back to 1979. The last matchup between OSU and the Lobos (14-18) took place in 2010 with the Cowgirls winning 2-1 in 10 innings.
Entering the weekend, the Cowgirls are hitting .247 as a team with 44 doubles and 20 home runs. Junior Tarah Ettinger leads the team offensively, hitting .359, with 33 hits, six home runs and 22 RBIs. She is slugging .598 with an on-base percentage of .449. Senior Tamara Brown is second on the team with a .349 batting average. Brown has 30 hits, 10 doubles, a home run and nine RBIs.
The pitching staff is also continuing their strong showing. Senior Kat Espinosa (11-6) has an ERA of 1.57 and 127 strikeouts in 20 starts and 120 innings. Junior Simone Freeman (8-7) has an ERA of 2.32 and 119 strikeouts in 12 starts.
The Cowgirls open conference play against Texas Tech next weekend at Cowgirl Stadium in Stillwater, Okla.
