OSU Head Coach Jim Littell
Opening Statement
"Nice win. I'm very impressed with our group. We needed to get back on track. I thought we shared the ball extremely well, and passed against their zone defense very well. We shot 50 percent from the floor. Our players did an excellent job of making the extra pass and finding someone that was open. Our ball movement was very, very good tonight. I'm very pleased with that. We had some turnovers late, but 14 is okay. Toni Young really stepped up with 18 and 14, and five blocks. I really like Kendra Suttles's stat line of 13 points and nine rebounds. I thought Tiffany Bias was really good tonight. I thought we had really good balance. Lindsey Keller played really well off the bench. They shot well, and we withstood that."
On Tiffany Bias's performance, and limiting Zahna Medley's production
"We asked her to do what she did in the Iowa State game, just really lock somebody down. Zahna Medley has been Freshman of the Week quite a few times. She's an excellent player, and besides Tiff's stat line, I thought she was exceptional on the defensive end on the floor."
On bouncing back from a slow start early
"We gave up some early threes that I didn't like, but then we got into a stretch for about 10 minutes where I didn't think they got a good look. I think we rebounded off of it, and played some pretty good defense. We gave up quite a few points in the second half. Credit them. They hit shots and made plays."
On what this does for the team's confidence moving forward
"This is a big win. Every time you get a win in this conference, it's greatly appreciated and well earned. We've just got to get some rest now. We've got to be smart about how we practice our team. We need to let them get their legs back. We'll get some rest and we'll be ready when we go into OU."
Tiffany Bias
On Overcoming the Early Deficit
"TCU came out hot and we just had to respond. You can't really get rattled about the 6-0, we just responded and hit shots down the run."
On Rebounding from Last Game
"It's the second half of the season, it was a big win and we needed this win. I think we prepared well and we were ready to play."
On Preparation for Zahna Medley
"I just knew that she was a freshman that had been playing well. You have to slow her down at the beginning, you don't want her to get on a run, get fast-breaks or let her get her step-back three's. Just scouting her and playing her how she needed to play."
On Playing against the Zone
"You're going to find gaps, especially if you have the short corners you just need to find the gap and knock down the shot and I worked a lot on that."
On Her 19-Point Performance
"It pays off being in the gym, it's nice to knock down shots when you need to, especially for your team."
Toni Young
On Moving Forward
"You can't always reflect on the last game, you have to let those go after they are over and focus on the next one. Just like with this win, we have to let it go and move on to the next one."
On Her Performance
"I just have to stay calm and do what I do best and pretty much score over people. Coach told me what I needed to do and I just had to do it."
TCU Head Coach Jeff Mittie
On Oklahoma State's offensive firepower and talent as a team
"I think they're a great team. It's hard for me to gauge with how I felt about our performance, but I did feel like OSU is a team that plays within their strengths. They understand where they need to get the basketball. They all have a role and they all understand that role. Tonight, I was impressed. I could see it on film, but they took advantage of where they had mismatches against us tonight. They showed a lot better discipline than we showed. They pass the basketball to the player they need to get it to."
On competing in the second half after falling flat in the first
"I don't even know that we competed in the second half. We scored better. We made some shots. Our effort is tied to making shots. When you're not making shots, that's not a good sign, especially when we have shot 33 percent as a team for the season. I would say we were physically whipped by a pretty good Oklahoma State team."
On OSU's size causing difficult matchups
It's a really tough matchup for us. The power forward position has been the hardest matchup for us so far in the league. That position is really undersized with us. Look at Toni Young, who I think is one of the elite players in the league at that position. That's a tough matchup for us."
On Tiffany Bias
"I really felt like she was the key tonight for us to control. She ended up with eight assists and three turnovers. We couldn't have her passes lead to eight assists tonight. I was concerned about her coming in. She's one of my favorite players to watch in the league."
