Oklahoma State continues its four-game homestand to open the 2013-14 season on Tuesday, Nov. 12, when the Cowboys host Utah Valley at 7 pm inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. The game will be produced by the Cowboy Sports Network, and televised on Fox Sports Oklahoma. About Oklahoma State
Eighth-ranked Oklahoma State is 1-0 this season after a 117-62 season-opening win over Mississippi Valley State. Thirteen different Cowboys scored in the game, including double figures by five players. Phil Forte led all scorers with 22 points off the bench, while Le'Bryan Nash recorded his first-career double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Stevie Clark dished out eight assists in his first game as a Cowboy, the most ever by an OSU frosh in his first game. Brian Williams had 14 points and seven rebounds in his first start since the final game of the 2011-12 season.
Oklahoma State shot 61.3 percent from the floor, including 12 of 21 three pointers, in a dominating performance over MVSU. The Cowboys had 22 assists on 38 made field goals and turned the ball over just 13 times, with three of those coming in the final 3-1/2 minutes with four walkons on the floor.
About Utah Valley
Utah Valley is 1-0 this season following a 74-66 win over IUPUI Friday night in Orem, home of the Wolverines. Holton Hunsaker scored a game-high 18 points for UVU while Zach Nelson recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. As a team, Utah Valley shot 42 percent from the floor and 89 percent from the line, but just 21 percent from beyond the arc. The Wolverines are coached by Dick Hunsaker, in his 12th season as head coach of Utah Valley. The squad has a game tonight against North Carolina A&T before flying to Oklahoma early Tuesday morning.
Series History with UVU
This will be the first-ever meeting between Oklahoma State and Utah Valley on the hardwood. The Wolverines became NCAA Division I Tournament eligible in 2009-10.
All-Time vs the WAC
Oklahoma State is 34-3 (91.9%) all-time against current members of the Western Athletic Conference. The Cowboys are undefeated vs UTSA (9-0), UMKC (7-0), Idaho (4-0) and Chicago State (2-0). OSU is 7-1 vs New Mexico State and 5-2 vs UT Pan American. The Cowboys have won the last 24 meetings vs WAC schools, and are 23-0 in Gallagher-Iba Arena vs current WAC members.
Up Next for the Cowboys
Oklahoma State will return to action on Friday, Nov. 15, when the Cowboys host Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 7 pm inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Lions were 16-14 last season including a 15-3 mark in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
OSU will wrap up its four-game homestand to start the season as the Cowboys host No. 13 Memphis on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 7 pm inside GIA. The Tigers finished 31-5 last season, including a 16-0 mark in Conference USA action.
Following the Memphis game, the Cowboys will prepare for a trip to Florida which will including four games in a week. It starts on Monday, Nov. 25, when OSU travels to Tampa, Fla., to face the South Florida Bulls. Tipoff is set for 6 pm CT and the game will be televised on ESPNews.
The Pokes will then bus over to Kissimmee, Fla., to compete in the Old Spice Classic. Oklahoma State's first game will be against Purdue on Thursday, Nov. 28, at 10 am CT on ESPNU.
