Cowgirls Picked Third In Big 12 Preseason Poll

In a vote of the league's coaches, Oklahoma State's women's basketball team was selected third in the 2013-14 Big 12 women's basketball preseason poll it was announced today.
The Cowgirls garnered 63 points, tying them for the third spot with West Virginia. Oklahoma was picked to win the league with 74 points and five-first place votes. Baylor was second with three-first place votes and 70 points, while the Mountaineers grabbed the final two first-place votes.
OSU's third-place tie marked the highest it has been selected since the preseason poll began in 1997-98. The Cowgirls previous best came in 2007-08 when they were picked to finish fifth in the league.
The Cowgirls return four starters, including honorable mention All-American Tiffany Bias, from last year's squad that finished 22-11 and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Big 12 has ranked No. 1 in conference RPI for the past six seasons and has led the nation in attendance 14 consecutive years. The Big 12 topped all leagues with 70 percent of its teams in the 2013 NCAA Championship and 80 percent in postseason play. It marked the second consecutive year for the Conference to lead in both categories.
