Narattana Advances to Semifinals at ITA Regionals

NORMAN, Okla. – Kanyapat Narattana and Megan McCray of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team competed in singles quarterfinal action at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Regional Championships in Norman, Okla., on Sunday. Narattana picked up a win in the tournament quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals.
Senior Cowgirl Kanyapat Narattana continued her recent string of impressive performances with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Iowa's Shelby Talcott. Narattana has dominated in this weekend's tournament, winning all four of her singles matches in straight sets and only giving up 15 total games.
Freshman Megan McCray took a tough loss in the tournament quarterfinals on Sunday to No. 47 Hermon Brhane that ended her ITA Regional run. McCray pushed the match a third set with a win in the second, but fell to Brhane, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.
Carla Tur Mari picked up two wins in consolation action with a 2-6, 6-4, 10-6 victory over Abbi Melrose of Oklahoma in the first round and a 7-5, 6-4 triumph over Tulsa's Maria Sant'Anna in the second.
Narattana will begin her semifinal match against Tulsa's Yelena Nemchen on Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. in Norman.
