IRVING, Texas - Oklahoma State junior Marisha Wallace has been selected as the Big 12 Conference Preseason Newcomer of the Year it was announced today. The honor was released with the rest of the league's preseason honors, which are voted on by its head coaches.
Wallace transferred to OSU from NOC-Enid where she averaged 17.6 points and 7.1 rebounds during her sophomore season. A second-team all-conference pick, she helped the Lady Jets to a second-straight Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference title.
The Midwest City, Okla., native will be looking to become the third Cowgirl in the history of the league to be named its top newcomer. Nina Stone was named the league's newcomer of the year in 2004 and Whitney Pegram earned the distinction in 2006.
In addition to the league's preseason awards, the Big 12's five-player all-conference team was selected with OSU senior Tiffany Bias and junior Liz Donohoe receiving honorable mention status.
