Cowboy Tennis Sends Four To Doubles Quarterfinals At ITA Regionals

Oklahoma State's men's tennis team continued its run at ITA's Central Region Championships on Saturday by advancing two doubles teams to the main draw quarterfinals.
The eighth-seeded duo of Brady Bohrnstedt and Sebastian Sachs controlled its way to the fourth round by defeating doubles teams from Saint Louis, Arkansas and South Dakota State and only losing four combined games throughout the first three rounds.
Vasili Caripi and Lucas Gerch made their way into the quarterfinals by upsetting Oklahoma's Alex Ghilea and Nick Papac, who came into the match seeded seventh. Also, the teams of Chris Haworth/Matt Campbell and Trevor Horstmann/Nathan Roper advanced through the main draw first round before eventually falling in the round of 32.
The Cowboys will attempt to take down another of rival OU's doubles squads when Bohrnstedt and Sachs take on second-ranked Guillermo Alcorta and Axel Alvarez tomorrow at 10 a.m. A win from both Cowboy doubles squads would match the two against each other in the semifinals for a shot at Monday's final.
In singles play, Caripi made his way into the main draw third round after straight set victories on Friday and Saturday morning. He then took OU's Nick Papac into a third set with a shot at a quarterfinal spot before eventually falling, 6-7(3), 6-2, 6-1.
