Louisville, Ky. — A pair of future Oklahoma State Cowboys played well in the Kentucky Derby Festival Basketball Classic All-Star game over the weekend, and both left with a trophy despite their team losing, 130-127.
Marcus Smart scored eight points, grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds and dished out 11 assists for the Black squad. Phil Forte, a high school teammate of Smart and also a member of the Black team at the Derby Classic, scored 12 points and was 4-of-7 shooting from beyond the three-point arc. He also recorded four rebounds and three assists.
Smart took home the slam-dunk competition hardware, winning the contest in a 'dunk-off'. The 6-4 guard did a no-hands front flip at the free-throw line and caught a pass off the backboard for a reverse dunk, earning 28 points from the judges.
