Stillwater, Okla. — Oklahoma State signee Marcus Smart has been named a first-team member of the ESPNHS All-American Elite Team, it was announced today. There were only five student-athletes on the first team.
The McDonald's All-American and two-time Gatorade State Player of the Year for the state of Texas led his Flower Mound Marcus High School team to a repeat state Class 5A title. FM Marcus finished 39-2 and ranked No. 5 in the final POWERADE FAB 50 national high school team rankings.
The two-time state Class 5A Player of the Year, Smart averaged 15.1 points, 9.2 rebounds and five assists per game while shooting 66.9 percent from the floor on a balanced, low-scoring team.
